Two questions:

1 - How much battery life will I gain if I mess around with the CPU speed/voltage?

2 - How much battery life is saved when the hard disk turns off, and how real is the problem of setting it to go off every three minutes?

Thanks!

NHC does not appear to be compatible with Vista SP1. I am currently running the RC Refresh on my p1610 and it is not allowing me to change the CPU speed.

Another thing to try for reducing power consumption is to use a "dark" color scheme and solid black background instead of fancy wallpapers that "light up" lots of pixels. No idea how much it can save, but should have some benefit.

Sorry, not a bit of savings there. These screens are backlit, and the color of the pixel
has no real effect on power. They simply let varying amounts of the backlight through.
Not using animated screensavers will make a difference, however.

Tom.
